About Us
New Horizon Church of the Nazarene was established in Conroe in
1948. At this time the church was located on Sherman Street, four
blocks East of Downtown Conroe, in a building that would seat 40
- 50 people.
In 1961 property was bought on the corner of 1st Street and Silverdale
where they built a Sanctuary and a small educational area. The church
flourished in this area so in 1973 a new sanctuary was built as
well as more educational areas.
With changes in the church and the community it was decided that
a larger location would soon be needed so the search began. A family
member of the church had the piece of property on FM 3083 that was
donated to the church. In 2000 the congregation moved into this
location where we currently reside.
What We Believe
Eight Agreed Statements
These are the beliefs Nazarenes hold to be true. They are common
to Christians world-wide:
We believe in one God-the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by
plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian
living.
We believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore,
inclined to evil, and that continually.
We believe that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally
lost.
We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole
human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord
Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion
of sin.
We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent
to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth,
and also to the entire sanctification of believers.
We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised,
and the final judgment will take place.
